"Passion" is very special for me in many ways. It took me a while to decide what I want to achieve in my album. I wanted my first album to present me, my music, and my passion in my life.
Passion is the collaboration of beautiful music with wonderful people. Passion is the music of love and romance from elegant tangos to opera to sounds, melodies from parts of the world to where I was born.... It is great pleasure to collaborate with Jim Walker in three pieces and Sonya Belousova, on Piano in this album.
I have one of my compositions, Sound From Anatolia for two flute and piano which gives the sounds and colors of eastern music and culture. The tunes and colors that I grew up with. I am sure the music lovers would enjoy to listen to the unique version of F. Borne’s Fantasie Brillante (on Themes from Bizet’s Carmen) arranged by Jim Walker for two flute and piano.
Piazzola’s famous piece, Oblivion has been performed by many artists in different versions and instruments beautifully. In this album I arranged Oblivion into alto flute and piano. I believe alto flute’s warm and mellow sound gives a different flavor and taste to the piece.
I think “Passion” is a very true word to describe my pursuit in life. Following your dreams, being passionate in what you are doing and unconditional love was always my guide in life. I hope I would touch your passion and your heart with this album. Burak Besir
